Oh Gopal

            23 January 2009 marked as a controversial case regarding the police action toward a criminal. Let’s say we give the criminal name as Gopal. The case also has become the public spot whereby the Gopal last breathe was in the police custody. His death triggers a lot of anger towards policeman. Some may think that the policeman brutally beat the guy out for information some may think that Gopal deserve it.

            For my stand, I think Gopal deserve to be serve that way. To get information from a criminal, not just criminal but very fierce criminal with a lot of case related to Gopal, well police must do some aggressive tactic to obtain the information. The policeman believed that Gopal hold to the key to a large syndicated around Kuala Lumpur.

            Unfortunately, Gopal died in the process. Do you believe sometime bad people get their own justice in the odd way? As a person who born with religion, I believed there justices beyond our hands. In my opinion, Gopal is a very intelligent person. He plan his crime perfectly until one day a mistake ruin everything and he got caught. During the interrogation, Gopal did not cooperate with the police. He insists to giving the information.

            When his death went public, some people played it as political agenda. Like what we  have see before, the case about  five criminal were shoot to death In the Pulau Pinang incident and DAP loudly said that the policeman are cruel and blindly shoot without checking the person background. Those people who been shoot are famous gangster group Geng04.

            In the world web, many blogs are attacking the police integrity on handling criminals. Many said, police are cruel and dehumanize. Like Gopal case, the family bringing the case to the court and they were accompanied by Indian politician. The case won by the family and it classified as murder.

            However, Gopal’s death has outshines his dirty closet. People forgot that Gopal is a true cruel criminal who has took over others happiness and the worst someone’s life. People are blinded with the feeling of ethnocentrism and some people took the advantage to criticize the enforcement.

            We, as a human, a literate ethnicity should described a hero as someone who safe others not someone who took away others happiness for their own benefits.

Interrogation by any entities in the world are played the same. 

"Balkanization"

          Words are the most powerful medium we used every day. We talk to our friends, neighbors, co-workers, and others every day since the start of one’s daily routine. In facts we could not stop talking about everything unless we are dead. However human biggest mistake are saying words that hurt other people, downgrading other people, and saying words that destroying other people reputation.

            Today’s, with the advance technology we are able to directly commenting on certain issues without any obstacles. In the World Wide Web everything is move a second faster than a light, so it seem. A person comment is also read by a million people. When a million people reading your comment and replying the comment meaning your comment has influence on them. Thus, this is really important because when your comments influence others, it can change the behavior of that certain people. The respond can be negative or positive or it can be violent or neutral.

            The fast working sites for social networking are Facebook, Instagram, Keek.com and even You-tube. These are the platform for our people to expressing their emotions, attitude toward certain issues and decisions.  These platform actually a war zone for words applied by those people who so called fighting for reasons or freedom or for the right. However most of the commenter is not professional. They did not do any research at first to critique on the certain issues. It is norm actually when people giving critique without checking the hole first. This is also the reason why people are easily manipulated by some powerful person to dominate everything (power in politic, economy, and more).

            There are a lot of negative commentaries in the social networking. This commentaries trigger speculation and sense of hatred between people. For example, recently an issue about the usage of words Allah by non-Muslim in Malaysia triggering discomfort. This is issue has creating hatred towards the minority which is the Christian and no doubt it also vice-versa to Muslim community.

            A lot of bad words were thrown to each other between these two religions. Some political figure took this opportunity to get fame which is so-called fighter for freedom but in reality they just like a person put oil into the flame. When things like this happen, Cyber balkanization would happen. Cyber Balkanization is first introduced by Cass Sustein. Cyber Balkanization according to Dr.Rahmat Ghazali is where a media create a certain colony that is separated from the public and the colony shared the same interest.

            Cyber Balkanization can be positive and negative. As we can see today’s, a lot of secret group are created to condemned other institutional, people or even religion. In the group there would be negative words to use and this will lead to hatred toward to the people outside of the group.

            People should learned from the past, how hatred treat people and brought them to destruction. Think before you comment. 

Implication of online journalism

         Words are the most powerful tool to begin with. Most intellectual people said, words can strike a million pain compared to a single sword. It is the truth, now as we can see, images and video also deadly to people who watched without checking the authenticity or even understand. Why am I saying it deadly? Images and video are the element of unfinished statement. When we play or looked at a picture, we will first to assume the things going on. However we will directly judged wha9t we see and that is deadly because assumption lead to misunderstanding and sometime this can cause more trouble and settle. Most normal people who watching whatever happened recorded in the video or snapped into pictures will question it, “what’s going on”, “why is that person doing so”, “how could that person done it”. These are the 101 question playing their mind.

            However when this happened most people interpreted the situation based on what they seen without knowing the real problem or how it is happening at the first place. There was video on the youtube, about the arguing between two person about car collision. A third party was recording the video and put it in youtube. A lot of responds toward the video and it is not good since people giving racism slurs and judging. Most of the comments were a judged toward the people in the video. This can affect to their life since it was virally spread in the cyberword. Can you imagine when people who are close to you asking your behavior or action after somebody took your video and post it on the cyberworld?

            People should not post personal video into the internet. Once it posted it will be public property and hard to get rid. The worst part, the video can create hatred in the society that would lead to our country destruction.

“The dangerous stance of internet materials”

          After the boom of internet in 1980s, people are enjoyed the world which most people says the “cyber world”. Everyone is connected without boundaries. Every click is promising something new, something wonderful, or new challenges. Once, the World Wide Web was created to make our life easier than our ancestors.

           Internet is a place where information is flowing with the speed of light. Every click links people to information. This information is manmade. People provide each other with information. When once surfing the net world, they usually get what they want without hesitated to wait. In seconds the information is in once hands.

            However, ever great invention comes with the dark price. There are several consequences of having internet today. Nowadays, internet has becoming a place to distribute violence. Every day we can see that, kids are exposes to uncensored videos, movies and songs that are played through streaming the net. This is very dangerous because they have been expose to something that child would not understand in their age and this might followed unwillingly by those children.

            Another problem today’s is pornography. It is true that, the best media to distribute porn is via internet. As compared to 20 years ago, porn materials are widely sales through V-CD, DVD or even magazine (in some country). Even though some country permitted pornography but still it cannot be accepted in our country (Malaysia). This pornography will created morality imbalance in our society.

            Since the information flowing in the cyber world cannot be stop, some people use it as a tool to discovery. Some people learn through the internet to gain knowledge and to improve. However some people took the information and learn to the other way. As what we could see today, in the news young people able to create handmade boom, some know to decompose Uranium to build even more dangerous boom. Some people learning the net itself to understand the internet language so that they able to hack to any system in the world via net.

            There are pro and cons to everything we created. People started the net initially for the military in America, since people who created the World Wide Web can see the good potential to humankind, why do not we even do so? 

The new beginning

hrmmmmmm, it's been while i did not post anything. Now we are required to create a blog. it was assign by My lovely lecturer, yea, he is interesting. Since i have one, so i am going to use my own blog.
       
      This is our final semester, quite scary actually because tomorrow we have to step out as an adult. The beginning of real journey.

      i am not strong like everyone else, in the class i was the slowest person to consume everything that lecturer lecture.

     i always be the slowest person, even when i was in secondary school. Naaa, it is the past so i let it be my past. Now, i am going to give the best i can. I love what i do. I might be slow compare to other but i won't let it be my excuse to stop from getting what i want.

    Since i studied in Uitm, i learn so much about myself compare to what i learn in the class. I do not know why it come like this. hahahaha. wait, i learn a lot of things actually. It is just the matter of time we apply those knowledge to the real world.

    So, with this new beginning i will bloom to something beautiful. To my friends, lets work hard :)
